Tons of Time
03:52
|
|||
We've got tons of time - we don't know
What we're going for but it's not here,
We've got tons of time to get things started
But what they are and where they go is not so clear...
What were we looking for in the shopping centre,
Sure wasn't furniture or dryers that spin
Stop at the record shop or maybe the news agent
for rolling tobacco and a packet of skins
Watching the game you're not sure you can win
When you gonna join in?
What were we on about sitting in the local,
Two pints of tanglefoot and a clue please
Post-punk, folk, funk, instrumental, vocal
Rock criticism with your pickle and cheese
Living the life but you're feeling the squeeze
Time gentlemen please...we've got tons of time...
One of these days we'll get our exit strategy worked out
And face the world outside this tiny market town...

Monkey Happy Hour
03:02
|
|||
It's monkey happy hour monkeys are growing up
Tasting the sweet and sour trying their monkey luck
To see what might come up
Happy the family isn't here, happy they're out with their friends
Happy it's Friday then sad when Friday has to end
We'll muddle through until it's monkey happy hour again
It's monkey happy hour part of the human day
Setting aside the dour lessons to learn a new lesson a different way
Beer's in the barrel and in the glass, whiskey and some rules will bend
Boys will meet girls and some monkey romances will end
we'll say adieu until it's monkey happy hour again
Monkey happy hour, monkey happy hour
Lose that angsty glower it's monkey's happy hour
Monkey's finest happy hour...

Already Lost Tomorrow
03:22
|
|||
I was such a mess yesterday,
Daddy didn't come home - at least not to stay
There must be something wrong with me
Ma keeps screamin' "you're just like your daddy"
It's all just common sense that somehow I can't follow
Better get what I can today
'Cause I've already lost tomorrow
Drivin' into town tonight
Those heavy clubs and bars will knock me to new heights
But I won't let them knock me out
There's a secret fight inside that wants another bout
Meanwhile for this round I'll have a shot and wallow
Better get what I can today
'Cause I've already lost tomorrow...

Days to the West
02:40
|
|||
I remember the common; quiet by the riverside,
Fire in the hearth on an overcast day...
The snow fell down on the square of the village
Savoured at least; the time in the East
Now we count what's left as days to the West
And we charted a course for the age of discovery
Followed the stars leading far from the shore
The rain poured down on the streets of the city
Mariners, we'd kept our backs to the East...
Then we made the best of days to the West

Honey Bee
02:10
|
|||
Honey bee democracy;
You sell me and if we agree,
Together we'll dance sweetly for the swarm,
Give 'em substance & we'll give 'em form
Honey bee help me to see;
Foraging for the sweetest flower
Please yourself but you don't cross the bee line,
Know yourself but also know the hive...
Honey Bee!
You and me can't merely follow
And we can't all be the queen,
But we might've found a place that's inbetween...
Honey bee a guide to me;
Dance away any doubt all day
Balancing the nectar & the sting,
Living in the super family...

Midweek Nebula
03:57
|
|||
Midweek Nebula, Midweek Nebula, Midweek Nebula
Monday's away and so the working week is off to a fine start
Futures are up the daily heat index is heading off the chart
Gravity's keeping the crew in place
Ice cappuccino is setting the pace
Who'd ever think you're on the brink
Midweek Nebula
Tuesday the big rip came when Beverly absconded from the top
Everyone in the lower echelons felt the old G forces drop
Spinning around a sunken sun
Worlds collide and places are won
The system's undone, the next is begun
Agnes and Agatha rose up to keep the old line going
Bobby went retrograde; spiraling under age & ego
Hit a new low...
Midweek Nebula, Midweek Nebula, Midweek Nebula
Midweek Nebula...

The Second Face
03:20
|
|||
First face takes offence no matter what you've said
Thinks you mock its origins, you think it not well read.
First face thinks you're such a mollycoddled twit
First face clawed its way on up but you were handed it
The second face loves you, understands you
Is inviting you to lunch
The second face likes you, is behind you
till the fatal blow: second face is the first to go
Second face is the first to go
First face likes to hide and take surreptitious snips
Second's charged with taking ground and then keeping it
Underneath the brilliant self portrait
There's a piece of work far more complex
Starting to show as the surface gets thin
When surface can no longer win...

The Bishop's Chair
03:32
|
|||
The Bishop's got his hat on - he's coming out today
He's the new man & he's gonna have his say
The flock are so excited now the shepherd's back in place
Some sad & some delighted but all want to see his face
All reckon this is the way...
How long will anyone care who gets the Bishop's chair
How long will anyone need to know the Bishop's there
The more you know those old beliefs are stretched beyond repair
How long will anybody care?
The Bishop's got his hat on - he's on the balcony
He's blessing via radio and satellite link
The flock are led along into the technological era
File under "fills a need" and file with all other "true"
Religions lasting millennia...

In Two Places at Once
02:18
|
|||
Doris and Vivien, Cyril and Millicent
Come to the house, sit in the garden
We'll raise up a glass in the shy English sun
While the rain's away, only for the day
Don't shed a tear today, come with some cheer today
Today is the day we'll visit the lady
She'll put on her pearls and nail polish
And sit up to greet the friends
All who can attend
In two places at once till the evening is done
They'll slip into one as the past and tomorrow agree
Reluctantly...

Epigenetics
02:37
|
|||
Storms of the father, famine and plenty
The past lies silent where it fell
Hearts beat and bones move, timers inside you
Awake from sleeping in their cells
Epigenetics, archival echo in you
Epigenetics, head & heart follow the cue...
And did those sounds sung so long past
Still ring in the hidden depths
Lost refrains will be heard yet...
